En la selva del sureste de Asia se rueda una superproducción sobre la guerra de Vietnam en la que intervienen varias estrellas: Kirk Lazarus, un actor que ha ganado tres Oscar; Jeff Portnoy, estrella de una popular y grosera saga de películas, Alpa Chino, estrella del hip-hop metido a actor, y el novato Kevin Sandusky. A medida que avanza el rodaje, las cosas van de mal en peor, sobre todo para Damien, el director de la cinta. Llega un momento en que los actores, perdidos en mitad de la jungla, llegan a creer que Damien sigue rodando con cámaras ocultas; lo cierto es que están realmente perdidos y tienen que enfrentarse a una verdadera guerra y actuar como si fueran auténticos soldados si quieren salir con vida de ese infierno.
